Over the winter the Barclay Karting Team has been hard(ish) at work preparing for the 2008 season so we can once again prove that our team is a podium scoring, supportive and co-oprative team in NatSKA. Changes have occured to our working areas, more space is available now on race days.

Lewis Hamilton comes to Barclay Kart Teams Home Town; Stevenage!
Team captain James Williams conveniently had four free periods on a certain Friday when Lewis was in town at the popular bookstore Waterstones in Stevenage.
My Day started at 7:00am, which would have been normal for a boring school day at Nobel doing Art Graphics for four hours with no-one to talk to since all my other mates study at Barclay on Fridays. But this was no ordinary day, Nobel had an occasional day today, this means no school! I headed down to the town at ten to eight, past Barclay and the old town straight to the center of Stevenage new town to begin my 4 and a half hour wait to see world famous and karting's hero Lewis Hamilton.
Lewis Hamitlon
He was scheduled to start the book signing at Waterstones at 12:30, but it didnt actually start until nearly 1:00pm. I had been waiting in the que for 5 hours now, 3rd from the front surrounded by about 9 Huge bodyguard security men and what seemed like 1000 photographers, news reporters and general media.
Lewis and his new book
I heard about the book signing only one week before from Tony Kemp (thanks Tony!) who i managed to get a signed copy for much to his delight. The event was featured on ITV Anglia News and BBC1 Look East later that night. Hamilton was a great guy to talk to i only spoke to him for a few minutes but it seemed alot longer than that, i will treasure that moment!
Just before i met him

I got two books signed, for myself and for Tony Kemp, and told Lewis all about the team. He was very interested, i'm annoyed i did'nt ask him to come down to kart club sometime now!

I told him about where we raced, and how big the team was, he was very polite and thanked me for coming. As team captain on behalf of the team i said well done etc. and good luck next year, and that was it! Fortunatley after that i made it all the way to Hitchin College for last lesson only 10 minutes late! A brilliant experience overall.
